Are you really free to raise your children? Think again.

social service abuses

Normal people would think that parents have a say about how they raise their children. That would be a normal person’s thought, but not how the government thinks. Have you heard any horror stories about how public social service agents have taken custody of children totally against the will of the parents or guardians?

The “Kids for Cash” scandal is a worst case example of abuse by government “officials”.

Almost everywhere children go, school, church, scouts, etc.. they are exposed to some authority figure telling them to report any sexual, mental, or physical abuse that a parent, family member, or even stranger may be inflicting on them. Depending on the child’s age and mental maturity this could be a hard concept for the child to grasp and they may or may not report abuses, or they may falsely report abuses as a way to get back at parents.

Least you think this is only a concern for children, think again. As people age and family members are not living in one house anymore, the government is taking over as director of guardianship for the elderly too.

To try and help return parental control, Representative Will Tallman is introducing legislation HB 1512. As he states, “to strengthen parents intrinsic right to determine what is the best way to raise their children to ensure they grow up to become principled, healthy, and well-educated adults”. Representative Tallman’s legislation will prohibit any Commonwealth agency, political subdivision, municipal authority, or any other local government instrumentality from abridging this right without “demonstrating that its governmental interest as applied to the person is of the highest order and not otherwise served.”

If you have any feelings or opinions on this legislation, please contact your legislator and ask that they become a cosponsor.
