A Sad Event For Patriots: Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia Passes Away

With the untimely passing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in mid-February, the nation has lost an important Second Amendment supporter.

“Rest In Peace” tweeted the NRA. “Thank you for your unwavering tenacity in defense of the U.S. Constitution.”

Scalia, who passed away at age 79, wrote the Court’s historic 2008 opinion in the District of Columbia v Heller that poked Barack Hussein Obama in the eye by affirming that the Second Amendment gives Americans an individual right to own a firearm. The decision in that important case, which struck down a local handgun ban, was 5-4.

Scalia also reinforced his Second amendment cred when he joined with fellow Justice Clarence Thomas in a strongly worded dissent when the court chose not to reconsider a seventh circuit court of appeals decision that an Illinois city’s assault weapon ban was constitutional, noted an article in The Guardian, a British newspaper.

“If a broad ban on firearms can be upheld based on conjecture that the public might feel safer (while being no safer at all), then the Second Amendment guarantees nothing,” the dissent argued, according to the article.

Barack Hussein Obama – who has consistently sided with radical Islamic terrorists even as he tries to curb the rights of American men and women – “says he believes the Second Amendment is an individual right, but in terms of what he thinks it protects, it’s a vanishingly small right,” pointed out Dave Kopel, an attorney and gun rights advocate who was part of the legal team that won the historic victory in the Heller case. “The politics of what happens in a confirmation process is unclear, but based on the past, we can expect that he will appoint someone who will pay lip service to the Second Amendment and then vote to overturn Heller.”

Kopel saw this happen when Obama appointed two radical leftists, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, to the high court.

Sotomayor, he said, “told the Senate that she considered Heller settled precedent”, but then voted against it “at the first opportunity,” when she joined the dissent in the 2010 McDonald v Chicago case, which clarified that the second amendment individual right established in the Heller case also applied to the states, according to The Guardian report.

As patriots fear that another radical Obama appointment could upend Second Amendment rights, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declared that “The American people‎ should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President,” according to a Washington Post article.

More reason for concerned patriots to contact their elected representatives and urge them to block any appointment by Barack Hussein Obama that could enable the Supreme Court to further erode our Constitutional rights while setting the stage for a takeover by leftist and Islamic terrorist elements.
