School Director tells the PSBA how it should be!

Share

Dear Editor,

This is a response to the Pennsylvania School Board Association (PSBA).

Give us your advice for new school directors The January/February issue of PSBA Bulletin magazine will focus on helping new school directors adjust to their roles. As part of the feature, we’re looking for more experienced board members to give their advice on how to succeed in the position and make a smooth transition. Please send your responses (75 words or less) to Jackie.Inouye@psba.org by Dec. 15.

This is what I sent:

Remember, the superintendent works for you, not the other way around.

If you don’t have enough information, vote NO.

Make sure you are getting the information you need in a timely fashion in order to make the informed vote.

Take your concerns privately before making them public.  Give people the benefit of the doubt.

Lois Kaneshiki

Hollidaysburg Area School Director
