Letter writer sends message to the establishment

The day following elections the obvious and most frequently asked question is, who won? Perhaps the more telling question might be, who lost?

Case in point

The Berks County Republicans selected representatives to their state committee. One campaign mailer, as stated, purported to be the “Republican Team”, which included their county chairman. This would imply that the balance of the 18 candidates were something other. In addition to the costly mailer were similar campaign signs throughout the county, hopefully to assure team victory. Ironically, of the 18 candidates, the county chairman finished 13th. Conversely, the Berks County Patriots ran three candidates, spent no money and with limited distribution of a self-printed flyer stated their issues. These included ending school property tax, reduce government cost and end corruption, protection of the unborn, eliminate unconstitutional politician’s pensions and protecting the second amendment. All three candidates garnered more votes than the county chairman. Perhaps the lesson learned is not necessarily the money spent, but might suggest the next time the county committee elects their chairman they might consider the message sent by the republican voters over the desires of the county committee. Days of political establishment candidates appear to be over. Does the name Trump come to mind?
