Commentator Editor–Connecticut Supreme Court Does the unthinkable

Share

The Connecticut Supreme Court has opened the door for a lawsuit brought against the Remington Outdoor Company, which manufactured the rifle used in the Sandy Hook killings.

Should we prepare for future lawsuits against the manufacturers of baseball bats, meat cleavers, pool cues, 2 by 4’s, frying pans, shovels, machetes, and twine–all of which can be used to kill?
Recall, if you will, that Thomas Jefferson said,  “The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”  Would we enjoy the freedoms which we do if our patriot forefathers had been limited to the use of slingshots and bow and arrows to overthrow the British tyrants who ruled them?
Keep in mind, also, that millions of Americans have used  weapons to protect their property and the lives of their families from violent intruders, the main reason that Pennsylvania has the “Castle Doctrine” as state law.
Sincerely,
Ed Bender
