April’s Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association meeting featured Lehigh County Commissioner Amanda Holt discussing her experiences with the Pennsylvania redistricting plans. She made a proposal that was considered by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

County Commissioner Amanda Holt to Speak on Experiences Fighting Gerrymandered Legislative Districts Lehigh County Commissioner Amanda Holt will be the guest speaker at the Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association’s (CEPTA) monthly meeting in April. She will speak on her experiences in challenging the gerrymandered legislative redistricting proposed by the state legislature after the last Federal census. Holt’s challenge to the legislature’s redistricting scheme went to the State Supreme Court where the court sided with Holt and threw out the legislature’s proposed redistricting plan. WHERE? Dean Browning to Address CEPTA on the Pension Crisis

CEPTA’s February meeting will feature former Lehigh County Commissioner and current Lehigh County Businessman Dean Browning. Mr. Browning will speak on the State Pension Crisis and how this will impact the taxpayers.

The meeting will be February 21st (Tuesday)doors open at 7:00 pm at the Emmaus Fire Hall — Sixth and Broad Streets in Emmaus. The meeting begins at 7:30pm and is open to the general public. Light refreshments will be available.

PA Liberty Alliance–Effective at fighting for the Taxpayer and Property Tax Elimination

The PA Liberty Alliance has been one of the more effective leaders in the fight to see PA School Property Taxes eliminated through SB/HB 76. The problem has been opposition to the bill from unions who make donations to our elected officials. But the PA Liberty Alliance has found ways to turn some of those politicians around. The Alliance is composed of people from a number of Taxpayer, Tea Party/Patriot groups. They lobby the politicians for passage of 76. When they find an elected official not on board, they rally the forces and visit the politician’s district to educate the people on the benefits of 76, circulate petitions in support of 76 and finally set up a town hall meeting for the people to

Lehigh County Commissioners give State of Lehigh County presentation at CEPTA meeting

Lehigh County Commissioners gave a presentation titled “State of Lehigh County” to those in attendance at the April 21st 2015 Concerned East Penn Taxpayers Association (CEPTA) meeting. Only four Commissioners could be in attendance to make the presentation in order to avoid a violation of the PA Sunshine act. The Commissioners in attendance were Amanda Holt, Vic Mazziotti, Mike Schware and Commission President Brad Osborne.

Other elected officials were also in the audience and include Tom Muller the Lehigh County Executive, Lynn Donches an East Penn School District Board member, and Ron Beitler a Lower Macungie Twp. Commissioner.

The Commissioners gave a power-point presentation that highlighted the major areas of county government, and the services provided to the residents of Lehigh County. Details

11/18/14 CEPTA meeting with Rep. Caltagirone & Rich Shuker

When a homerun is hit at a time when bases are loaded, this is known as a “Grand Slam” and the fans react with much cheering and applause. While a gathering of folks on Tuesday evening, November 18th, was not to see a ballgame, the CEPTA organization filled a room with concerned taxpayers, who came out to hear a presentation about PA’s pension problem. Addressing this issue were invited guest speakers, State Representative Tom Caltagirone (D) and Financial Advisor, and Rich Shuker (R). The relevance of this issue is one of an enormous magnitude that will affect every property owner in the State, as a prediction of a huge tax increase is on the horizon.
