Congress must stop Team Obama’s plan to radically reengineer America’s neighborhoods

The Obama administration’s Housing & Urban Development department is embarking on a social engineering experiment that wipes out one of the fundamental functions of local government – making neighborhood zoning decisions.

Through its Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) regulation, the president is seeking to diminish both liberty and local autonomy – hoping to supplant the foundational American ideal of equality of opportunity with the far left’s vision of imposed egalitarian outcomes.

Backdoor $600 Million Tax Increase in Rumored Deal

NOVEMBER 9, 2015 | News Release by COMMONWEALTH FOUNDATION

Sales Tax for Property Tax Swap Rumor Leaves Taxpayers on the Hook

November 9, 2015, Harrisburg, Pa.—The latest state budget rumors describe a deal to increase the sales tax to provide corresponding property tax relief. Rather than a “dollar-for-dollar” tax shift, this plan would actually increase taxes on all Pennsylvanians by $600 million.

“This backdoor, broad-based tax increase proposal isn’t the kind of compromise Pennsylvania families are looking for,” said Matthew Brouillette, president and CEO of the Commonwealth Foundation. “When revenue-generating alternatives like liquor privatization, pension reform, and corporate welfare cuts are still on the table, ideas that include hundreds of millions in new

Report: Obama coal plan will boost electricity bills 16 percent, drive companies offshore

Share

By Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner

As President Obama jetted to Alaska Monday to talk up his climate change plans, burning through nearly 17,000 gallons of fuel, a new report showed that his “Clean Power Plan” will increase consumer electric bills 16 percent and speed plans by job-creating manufacturers to flee America’s high fuel costs.

The free-market focused Institute for Energy Research said that Obama’s plan to replace coal-fired plants with renewable energy makers like windmills and solar will force companies to spend up to four times more on energy and hit consumers.

“The so-called Clean Power Plan is expected to decrease carbon dioxide emissions in the generating sector by 32 percent from 2005 levels by 2032. To do this, massive amounts

Will Harrisburg Ever Fix the Pension Crisis?

Share

By Rich Shuker

At the rate of success Harrisburg is having with the budget, coupled with the incompetence of our legislators to work for the taxpayers of Pennsylvania, it is possible the pension crisis will never be fixed.

Commenting about the pensions, House Majority Leader David Reed said, “I’m not sure where we go from here,” after a failed veto override attempt!

House Minority Leader Frank Dermody, D-Allegheny County, said, “A piecemeal override of a vetoed bill is unconstitutional.”

“While the governor is looking at their proposal, they (House leaders) are playing games,” said Wolf spokesman Jeff Sheridan.

“Accepting the GOP’s latest offer would be a home run for both sides,” said Senate Majority Whip John Gordner, R-Berwick. Does he mean the political parties

Emmaus Borough Council personal appeal plea for help.

At the Emmaus Borough Council meeting on Monday 8/17/2015 a personal plea was made requesting help to slow down traffic along Chestnut St., especially the intersection by the Turkey Hill on 6th. St…

This plea was made by Mrs. Amy Huber, who lives very close to the intersection where an unfortunate accident occurred that took the life of a young child and seriously hurt another. The plea that was made was directly intended to get all motorists to be more cautious when driving and to have the motorist realize the laws when it comes to designated crosswalks on public streets.

Mrs. Huber was instrumental in starting a local organization called “Community and Caring Citizens of the Lehigh Valley.” Through this group

Crisis of Lawlessness — By Representative Daryl Metcalfe

by PA State Representative Daryl Metcalfe

On July 22, 2015, I reintroduced my resolution to impeach the Democrat Pennsylvania State Attorney General Kathleen Kane for a pattern of abuse and misbehavior in office. Then last week she was charged by the Montgomery County district attorney with obstructing administration of law or other governmental function, official oppression, criminal conspiracy, perjury, and false swearing.Earlier this year, Democrat Pennsylvania State Treasurer Rob McCord resigned from office and was charged with attempted extortion. He is now awaiting his sentence. No one should be above the law. Our new Democrat governor seems to also have a problem understanding that concept.Since taking office this year, Democrat Governor Tom Wolf has been taken to court for several of his actions that do

Why the liberals win, view the historical quote from Jefferson

Why the liberals win! “If we move in mass, be it ever so circuitously, we shall attain our object; but if we break into squads, everyone pursuing the path he thinks most direct, we become an easy conquest to those who can now barely hold us in check.” —Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Duane — 1811
