Donors Decline to Back More Fracking Research After Study Finds No Link to Water Contamination

The lead researcher in a study that concluded that fracking in Ohio didn’t contaminate groundwater told The Daily Signal that, contrary to her previous remarks, donors to the study did not pull funding because of “specific disappointment” with those results.

Amy Townsend-Small, an assistant professor of geology at the University of Cincinnati who conducted the three-year study, did acknowledge that some financial backers “have declined to continue funding past the initial study period.”

However, Townsend-Small said in an

Hillary Clinton

By Cliff Kincaid at Renew America

GOP presidential candidate Donald J. Trump is taking a beating from the press over his flip-flops on abortion. But the leading Democrat candidate for president, Hillary Clinton, has escaped serious scrutiny over her extreme position that would seem to prohibit any restrictions on the procedure.

Trump regularly compares his flip-flops to how Ronald Reagan changed on the issue. Of course, Reagan changed in a much more dramatic and thoughtful way. He actually authored a major essay, 3,600 words in length, which was made into a small book, “Abortion and the Conscience of the

Pennsylvania Must Join with Majority of States in Restoring Right to Work

HARRISBURG — State lawmakers, leaders from organizations across the Commonwealth and other individuals dedicated to making Pennsylvania America’s next right-to-work state officially reintroduced the Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative (House Bills 1750-55) on Tuesday.

“With the recent addition of neighboring West Virginia, there are now more right-to-work states in the U.S. than compulsory-union states,” said Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler). “The governor can mislead all he wants about the so-called structural deficit or the need for recurring revenue (massive tax increases), but

Would Lift Veil of Cost Secrecy from Government Union Deals

From The Commonwealth Foundation

HARRISBURG, Pa.—Today, the state House passed SB 644 (108-83) to bring much-needed cost transparency to government union contracts—contracts Governor Wolf is negotiating behind closed doors right now.

“Last week, Gov. Wolf called for expanded government transparency, claiming, ‘special interests still wield too much power and influence in Harrisburg’,” commented Matthew Brouillette, president and CEO of the Commonwealth Foundation. “Now, Wolf has a chance to put his money where his mouth is. Wolf himself is currently negotiating contracts worth a combined $3.6 billion with 18 government unions, several of which donated millions to his election campaign.”

Reinforced by Grassroots, Senate Republicans Hold Line on Supreme Court Nomination

Conservatives who are normally at odds with Senate leadership are turning out to be important allies in their ongoing campaign to block President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee.

When the Senate recessed in March, conservative groups quickly mobilized activists across the country to reinforce the Republican blockade against Merrick Garland. Organizations like FreedomWorks, Heritage Action, Judicial Crisis Network, and Tea Party Patriots have galvanized support.

For two weeks, the groups ran interference for GOP senators in vulnerable states and corralled wayward Republicans back to the
