Judge orders state of California to pay $399K to pro-life pregnancy centers

Share

By Jana J. Pruet of The Blaze

A judge ordered the state of California to pay $399,000 to three pro-life pregnancy centers and lawyers after a district court declared the Freedom, Accountability, Comprehensive Care, and Transparency Act unconstitutional, The Christian Post reported.

What’s the story?

In October, U.S. District Court John Houston granted a permanent injunction against the 2015 law that required all licensed pregnancy counseling centers to post signs about the state’s abortion services.

“The law violated freedom of speech,” lawyer Mat Staver, the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said in a statement. “The First Amendment protects the right to speak and the right not to speak. Faith-based pro-life pregnancy centers cannot be forced to

New poll: 77 percent of voters back legislation to protect babies who survive abortions

BY: / Washington Free Beacon

An overwhelming majority of Americans support congressional action to protect children born alive through failed abortions and oppose efforts to expand late-term abortions.

A new poll released by Susan B. Anthony List on Wednesday indicated that 77 percent of voters favor legislation mandating that children who survive failed abortions are given the same medical treatment as babies born prematurely. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 likely general election voters between Feb. 6-10, also found 62 percent opposed legislation allowing late-term abortions even up to the

UN IPCC Scientist Blows Whistle on Lies About Climate, Sea Level

Share

By Alex Newman of The New American

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UN IPCC) is misleading humanity about climate change and sea levels, a leading expert on sea levels who served on the UN IPCC told The New American. In fact, it is more likely that sea levels will decline, not rise, explained Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, the retired head of the paleogeophysics and geodynamics at Stockholm University. A new solar-driven cooling period is not far off, he said. But when Mörner tried to warn the UN IPCC that it was publishing false information that would inevitably be discredited, they simply ignored him. And so, dismayed, he resigned in disgust and decided to blow

There Are Two Energy Futures for America

As with other goods and services, energy’s availability and affordability will depend on whether natural incentives and economic law are respected or hampered by government policy

By Robert L. Bradley, Jr. at FEE/Foundation for Economic Education

There are two energy futures for America. One is freedom and prosperity. The other is politics, conflict, and waste. As with other goods and services, energy’s availability and affordability will depend on whether natural incentives and economic law are respected or hampered by government policy.

Free-Market Energy

The future of free-market energy is bright and open-ended. “It’s reasonable to expect the supply of energy to continue becoming more available and less scarce, forever,” Julian Simon wrote in his magnum opus, The Ultimate Resource II.

The biased mainstream media and liberal extremist celebrities have yet another thing in common. They are all facing the threat of massive civil lawsuits after maligning Covington Catholic High School students.

Attorneys representing Covington Catholic’s Nick Sandmann are reportedly preparing documents to be sent to numerous celebrities, media organizations and individual journalists who wrongfully slandered the youths. Sandmann became the primary target of the alleged libel and slander when a Native American activist confronted him in what most people view as an attempt at intimidation.

Virginia House GOP Passes Tax Relief Plan; Democrats Oppose It

Two Republican-backed Virginia House bills to prevent an inadvertent $1.2 billion tax increase passed the House of Delegates Tuesday, a move proponents say will help middle-class Virginians. The legislation would also conform the state tax code to the federal tax code.

The measures failed to pass Monday with an added emergency clause, which would have sped up the effective date. Although 12 Democrats voted with Republicans to pass the emergency clause Monday, the House Democratic minority was unified against Tuesday’s legislation.
