The ranchers are no heroes, but federal authorities have botched the case every step of the way.

By Arnold Ahlert · at The Patriot Post/https://patriotpost.us/articles/53383

In a stunning development further underscoring the corruption that exists at the highest levels of the federal government, U.S. District Judge Gloria M. Navarro threw out felony conspiracy and weapons charges against rancher Cliven Bundy, sons Ammon and Ryan, and co-defendant Ryan Payne. “The government’s conduct in this case was indeed outrageous,” Navarro explained. “There has been flagrant misconduct, substantial prejudice and no lesser remedy is sufficient.”

THE ASTOUNDING 1983 PREDICTION THAT LIBERALS HOPED NEVER WOULD HAPPEN

One of my habits is to read books and articles about social and political trends. I used to love to read Popular Mechanics magazine and the stories that were published about what the future would be like. The article “Miracles You’ll See in the Next 50 Years,” published February 1950, showed a picture of a woman hosing off her sofa that carried this caption: “Because everything in her home is waterproof, the housewife of 2000 can do her daily cleaning with a hose.” My wife is still waiting for that one to come true.

Critics from both left and right are all over Jeff Sessions for his decision to revoke an Obama-era executive order on marijuana. It ordered the Department of Justice to turn a blind eye to pot production, transportation, and sales in states that have legalized recreational use of weed.

There are several important issues involved here. One is that Obama’s directive was wholly illegal and unconstitutional. Federal law, enacted by Congress, is clear that marijuana is an illegal drug. No president has either the moral or legal authority to decide which

Murders, shootings dipped in Chicago in 2017

Matt Finn reports on the efforts to reduce violence in the Windy City.

At least three homicides have already occurred in Chicago in 2018, the violence spiking following a year in which the Windy City celebrated fewer homicides than in 2016.

Statist policies have turned MLK’s dream into a nightmare.

By Mark Alexander · at The Patriot Post/https://patriotpost.us/articles/53421

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ … I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. … And if America is to be a great nation this must become true.” —Martin Luther King Jr.
