CA Wants to Ban Christian Guidance. No, Seriously.

A new bill would go to extreme lengths to protect homosexuals from any healing advice.

By Jordan Candler · at The Patriot Post/https://patriotpost.us/articles/55547-ca-wants-to-ban-christian-guidance-no-seriously

California Assembly Bill 2943, which was introduced in February and is the subject of a critical forthcoming vote, is chock-full of feckless scientific assertions on human sexuality. More importantly, it takes animosity toward Christianity to a whole new and worrying extreme and even evokes fears of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, in which the government enacts a proscription against books.

According to the bill, “Contemporary science recognizes that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender is part of the natural spectrum of human identity and is not a disease, disorder, or illness.” Many scientists would disagree with that — and nature

Sen. Argall: Independent study of and suggestions for PASSHE deserve public review

HARRISBURG – The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee (LBFC), chaired by Senator Bob Mensch, voted today to release a comprehensive report on the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, according to Senator David G. Argall (R-Berks/Schuylkill).

After the release of the LBFC report, Senator Argall released the following statement:

“I want to thank the LBFC and the Rand Corporation for completing this much needed independent study, as required by Senate Resolution 34. Now the House and the Senate and all of our state’s universities must carefully consider each possible option

Declining Quality of Youth is making Army Recruitment Difficult

Share

Written by Joe Scudder/ EagleRising The Army recruitment goal had to be lowered because it is getting difficult to find qualified youth.

The fact that army recruitment is getting more difficult may not concern some people. But no matter what you think about the ideal number of active duty soldiers, one of the reason for the decline in Army recruitment has got to concern everyone: a decline in quality of potential recruits. While a better economy and lower unemployment is part of the challenge for the Army, the other part is young people who have been using marijuana, scoring low on tests, have health issues, and other problems.

If the army is facing such problems, then to some degree so is everyone else.

Charter schools continue to show the need for school choice

Share

By Natalia Castro at the Daily Torch and Americans for Limited Government

Charter schools are transforming American education. For the country’s most at risk students, charter schools are playing a critical role in building educational opportunities for students. As the Department of Education expands charter school use, studies proving their effectiveness have begun pouring into academia, proving that school choice is the best path toward educational advancement.

The biannual National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) has released their 2017 National Report Cards assessing achievement across American schools through controlled variables. On a national level, charter schools appear to be even with non-charter schools, but John Valant of the Brookings Institute explains there is a clear reason why. In his Continue reading…

Aspiring physicians must now show mastery of appropriate attitudes!

Share

by Mary Byrne Aspiring physicians no longer need to demonstrate mastery of the sciences, but they must demonstrate the appropriate attitudes, values, and mindsets of the Association of American Medical Colleges, which of course, believes that facts about biology and the Hippocratic oath are not as important as “correct” responses to questions about hypothetical situations described on the MCAT. Only the “Right People” will be accepted into professional education/training programs — filtering out anyone who does not respond with answers that align to the attitudes, values, and mind sets of the test developers. There’s a validity crisis here — some of these questions are not remotely related to medicine. One MCAT practice questions . . ., for example, asks whether the wage

Freedom, Inequality, Primitivism, and the Division of Labor

By Murray N. Rothbard at Mises.org

[This essay was written in 1970. Read Rothbard’s 1991 introduction.]

I.

If men were like ants, there would be no interest in human freedom. If individual men, like ants, were uniform, interchangeable, devoid of specific personality traits of their own, then who would care whether they were free or not? Who, indeed, would care if they lived or died? The glory of the human race is the uniqueness of each individual, the fact that every person, though similar in many ways to others, possesses a completely individuated personality of his own. It is the fact of each person’s uniqueness — the fact that no two people can be wholly interchangeable — that makes each and every

Look Around You: Do You Still Think America Won the Cold War?

By Timothy Daughtry at Townhall The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not represent the views of Townhall.com.

American teenagers march in the streets to gut or eliminate the Second Amendment, and our youth are increasingly comfortable with socialism. Conservative speakers are harassed and physically threatened on college campuses. According to many in positions of power, any difference in achievement or earning among various social groups is assumed to be evidence of discrimination or oppression of one group by another, and assumed to be grounds for governmental intervention. Our national borders are being worn away despite popular demands for border security. Much of what passes for news is
