East Penn Superintendent and Treasurer present flawed budget…

Share

But it still passed 8-1.

You read right, even though the school district has two policies stating the budget have at least 5% of the total budget as a reserve, that would be $7,000,000 in a $141 million dollar budget for this coming year, the administration presented a budget that was short of the required reserve funds, and 8 members of the board voted to support it anyway. Only one board member, Ms. Donches, voted against this budget.

The same board members who approved this budget, also voted to allow Superintendent Schilder to cut 10% of his principles budgets. This 10% directly funds items relating to student education and safety. Again only one board member, Ms. Donches, voted against these cuts to the

It’s for the Children: After student deaths, union blocking Philly schools’ effort to hire more nurses

Share

by Evan Grossman at Watchdog.org

School nurses are a matter of life and death.

In the last few years, there have been two instances of children dying in city schools from situations that some believe could have been prevented if there was a full-time nurse on duty.

Nurses have been especially hard hit by Philly school cuts that have slashed the number of full-time nurses by about a third, from about 300 in 2011 to about 200 in 2014. When Sebastian Gerena, 7, died of a congenital heart defect last year and Laporshia Massey, 12, died after suffering an asthma attack in 2013, the tragedies illuminated one of the district’s most serious needs.

As it looks for ways to increase services for

East Penn School Board’s Bully Ballard Strikes Again

But strikes out on his censure vote against EPSD Board Member Ms. Lynn Donches

Monday night’s East Penn School Board meeting presented an unusual and serious censure motion against school board member Ms. Lynn Donches. The initiator of this motion was another sitting board member, Mr. Charles Ballard and the reason for this censure appeared to be Mr. Ballard wanted to prevent Ms. Donches from asking for budget information.

Ms. Donches has been voting nay to the bill list because of this lack of detailed budgetary information and that appears to have pushed Mr. Ballard to the point of his vindictive censure motion against her.

It was a fitting start to the meeting when the children from Willow Lane Elementary school sang a

Professor: Marquette cop killer mural product of exclusive ‘inclusion’ campus crowd

Share

by M.D. Kittle at Wisconsin Watchdog.org

At Marquette University, if you write a blog criticizing a student teacher for stifling the speech of a student who doesn’t believe in same-sex marriage, you can lose your job.

Commission a mural of a convicted cop killer, well, that’s just diversity of ideas.

Yes, Marquette administrators had the mural of black militant Assata Shakur removed Sunday evening, but not until, ironically, long-time Marquette political science professor John McAdams broke the story on his “Marquette Warrior” blog.

That’s the same John McAdams who has been suspended from teaching since November, when the political conservative and frequent critic of Marquette administration criticized in his blog a graduate student

EAST PENN’S ABUSIVE CHARLES BALLARD GETS SLAMMED BY THE PUBLIC!

Share

At Monday evenings East Penn School Board meeting, a meeting where School Board Director Charles Ballard placed a motion to censure fellow School Board Director Lynn Donches, the East Penn public finally had its say. With a packed house in support of Ms. Donches, citizen after citizen went to the podium to support Lynn Donches and inform the School Board and Ballard just what they thought of the abuse that Lynn Donches has endured.

Over the last three and a- half years, the East Penn School Board and Administration has put up artificial road blocks to the requests of Ms. Donches for details of the Budget line-items and expenses entailed. But Lynn Donches holds dear her responsibility to the taxpayers and students of East Penn

Senator Scott Wagner’s views on the PA Budget

Share

Good Morning:The purpose of this email is to give you an update on the PA State budget and give you some of my insights on how our government in Harrisburg is operating. Many people are asking me whether I see Governor Wolf’s budget being passed by June 30th.I entered the Pennsylvania State Senate in April of last year, and by that time the majority of the budget process had already taken place, so this is my first real experience with the budget. This year is also different because I serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

I reported in previous emails that I attended 33 of 35 appropriations hearings in March and April with agencies and entities affected by the budget.

This is my prediction –

School Faces Lawsuit Over Student’s Arrest For Wearing NRA Shirt

Share

by Robert Chambers – from Citizen Action

There are many crimes a student attending West Virginia public schools could commit that would justify arrest but wearing a National Rifle Association t-shirt should not be one of them.

So says one mom who filed a federal lawsuit against the West Virginia Logan County Board of Education for suspending her son from attending middle school and having him arrested after he refused to turn his NRA t-shirt inside out when ordered to do so by school officials.

The mom, Tanya Lardieri, filed the lawsuit to protect her son’s constitutional rights and clear his name after Jared Marcum was charged by police with disrupting the educational process and obstructing an
