No, Teachers Are Not Underpaid

Share

Salaries lag in some states, but nationally, wages and benefits outpace the private sector. by Andrew Biggs, Jason Richwine at fee.org

Recent protests across the country have reinforced the perception that public school teachers are dramatically underpaid. They’re not: the average teacher already enjoys market-level wages plus retirement benefits vastly exceeding those of private-sector workers. Across-the-board salary increases, such as those enacted in Arizona, West Virginia, and Kentucky, are the wrong solution to a non-problem.

Comparing Salaries

Most commentary on teacher pay begins and ends with the observation that public school teachers earn lower salaries than the average college graduate. This is true, but in what other context do we assume that every occupation requiring a college degree should get paid the

Is Common Core Racist? Check Out The Results

By |at New Boston Post Printed from: http://newbostonpost.com/2018/05/09/is-common-core-racist-check-out-the-results/

The December 2015 re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act required all states that wanted Title I money to help school districts with low-income students to develop and submit a four-year plan, under the control of the state’s education department. All state plans had to be “peer reviewed” by people chosen by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the U.S. Secretary of Education. The bill, known as the Every Student Succeeds Act, did not require or even suggest that these four-year state education plans be approved by a state’s elected legislators or by the elected local school board members in the state.

Interestingly, no state’s

John Kerry Continues Potentially Criminal Pro-Iran Talks

Share

~ Liberty Planet

It would be an understatement to say that Obama Administration officials routinely engaged in lawlessness. From Hillary’s thumbing her nose at national security protocols to A.G. Loretta Lynch subverting the criminal prosecution process to Pres. Obama’s illegal DACA program, there was a total disregard for the rule of law for 8 years — and then some.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry appears to think his buddy Barrack is still in office, because his continued diplomacy efforts to save the horrible Iran Deal haven’t stopped. Whether Kerry desperately wants to salvage this last remaining — although horrible — legacy or has just gotten used to lawlessness, he could face jail time under the Logan Act.

Seven States Sue to End DACA

On Tuesday, seven states filed a lawsuit against President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program arguing that the then-president exceeded his executive authority under both federal immigration law and the U.S. Constitution by creating the program without approval from Congress.

Tennessee Follows Texas and Iowa to Pass Strong Anti-Sanctuary Bill: Awaits Governor’s Signature

There has been a distinct shift in the states towards enacting anti-sanctuary laws since President Donald Trump has made enforcing our immigration laws his top priority. Anti-Gun Lawmaker Encourages Outright War in America?

Rep. Eric Swalwell didn’t come right out and suggest as much, but confiscating guns will cause it.

By Jordan Candler · at The Patriot Post/https://patriotpost.us/articles/55746

Well, sort of. Rep. Eric Swalwell didn’t come right out and suggest declaring war on gun owners, but if you boil his argument down to its natural ramifications, that’s what the California Democrat’s latest anti-gun op-ed amounts to. With every high-profile shooting comes increasingly vociferous demands by leftists to regulate the Second Amendment on the way toward full repeal.

In the past, Democrats have stuck mostly to regurgitating a tired, old refrain —

Students for the Second Amendment are taking the narrative back on guns in the United States

Share

By Natalia Castro at the Daily Torch and Americans for Limited Government

Students around the nation are taking the narrative back on guns in the United States. This week, thousands of students across the country, myself included, stood in favor of the Second Amendment on their college and high school campuses. As part of a student-led movement, Stand for the Second counters the narrative that just because guns are currently unpopular our right to keep and bear arms can be restricted; these students understand that no right can be infringed upon for our Constitution to survive.

Following the tragic events in Parkland, Florida, many students mobilized around the idea of gun control. Students like Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg have

The Deconstruction and Repeal of the Second Amendment

There is a growing chorus of leftist calls to amend the 2A until they can rally enough populist support to fully repeal it.

“I ask, Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people…” —George Mason (1788)

“A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.” —Article Two, Bill of Rights

Article Two (the Second Amendment) was written as a proscription against government intrusion upon and usurpation of the Natural Rights of Man, because “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms” is the most formidable line of defense against government intrusion

George Soros Funding Smartphone App to Help Illegal Immigrants Avoid Law Enforcement

Share

File Photo: John Moore/Getty Images

A George Soros-funded smartphone app is meant to explicitly help the undocumented evade federal authority.

In an interview with Fox Business’s Lou Dobbs, Judicial Watch Director of Research Chris Farrell called the smartphone application “pretty outrageous.” In order to escape arrest, Farrell said that the app “provides notice to their friends and family, it alerts their attorney.” The app will also have automated alerts of any impending interaction with an immigration official, whether with the person in question, their family, or even their lawyer.
