Why does the left hate entry-level jobs?

by Rick Manning at Net Right Daily and Americans for Limited Government

Why does the left hate entry-level jobs?

That’s what many former fast food workers must be asking themselves after massive increases in the minimum wage in places like Seattle, Washington are being blamed for a wave of restaurant closures. Closures that deprive entry-level workers an opportunity to gain the work skill sets needed for the rest of their lives.

Fully one-third of all Americans in the workforce got their start in the restaurant industry, including this author, who proudly remembers working at Carl’s Jr. in Corona, California for minimum wage while attending Riverside City College. The discipline to keep a schedule, show up on time, work hard, and pay some bills

Dear CF Friend,I wanted to let you know about two important victories today for the citizens and taxpayers of Pennsylvania:

1. Two labor transparency bills were passed out of Senate Appropriations and are now ready for the Senate’s full consideration.

Two bills by Sens. Folmer and Stefano, respectively, aim to shed some much-needed light on the public-union collective bargaining process, and allow taxpayers to get informed about the contracts paid for by their tax dollars. Gov. Wolf’s spokesperson has already indicated that the Governor will consider signing these bills.

2. Two important educational freedom bills passed out of House committee.

HB 805, sponsored by state Rep. Stephen Bloom would end seniority-based layoffs in Pennsylvania public schools, focusing on performance and effectiveness instead. Rep. Jim

Gangbanger Charged With Murder After Receiving Obama Amnesty

Share

by Judicial Watch

In the latest scandal to rock President Obama’s controversial executive amnesty initiative, a known gang member charged with murder and drug-related crimes was shielded from deportation under the administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

The illegal immigrant’s name is Emmanuel Jesus Rangel-Hernandez and he was in the process of being deported when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) shielded him from removal under DACA, even though the agency knew he was a member of a violent street gang. USCIS was also aware that Rangel-Hernandez had been arrested in 2012 for possession of drugs but rubber-stamped his amnesty petition anyways last August.

Earlier this year, months after our commander-in-chief granted him amnesty, the 19-year-old gangbanger was charged with four counts

NO SECRETS: Cub Scout gets Gov. Chris Christie to spill the beans on state security details

By Mark Lagerkvist | New Jersey Watchdog

In a bizarre turn of events, Gov. Chris Christie revealed state security secrets – to a Cub Scout last week during a town hall meeting in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.

“How many bodyguards do you have?” 7-year-old Charles Tartaglia asked the governor.

“There are 30 men and women who work for me, who are in the state police, and they’re members of what’s called the Executive Protection Unit,” answered Christie.

As a result of his response, Christie may be forced to turn over American Express bills documenting nearly

Gun Sense Vermont and Bloomberg’s Everytown spend big but still lose gun fight

By Bruce Parker at Watchdog.org

GREEN MOUNTAIN BOYS: Members of the all-volunteer Vermont Second Amendment Coalition deliver 7,000 signed paper letters to Gov. Peter Shumlin urging the governor to keep his promise of no new gun laws.

Gun control groups, including Gun Sense Vermont and Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety, blew big bucks on anti-gun legislation in Vermont in recent months but have little to show for it.

According to lobbyist disclosure statements available through the secretary of state’s lobbyist database, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund spent $77,568 on anti-gun legislation between Jan. 1 and March 31. The New York City group paid $65,818 for advertising and another $10,133 on two lobbyists.

Moving to a free market agriculture policy

Share

by J. Wesley Burnett, Ph.D. & Nathan P. Mehrens, Esq. at Net Right Daily

After one of the longest Congressional debates over agricultural policy in U.S. history, the Agricultural Act (Farm Bill) of 2014 was signed into law on February 7, 2014. This bill ended the direct payment program but left two key features. First, the Farm Bill created an expanded crop insurance system that is delivered by the private sector and enables farmers to purchase protection against crop failure and market swings. Second, the bill created new countercyclical mechanisms designed to provide assistance when prices dip below production costs.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the 2014 Farm Bill will cost the federal government nearly $1 trillion

Will Obama’s stealth Pacific treaty include immigration, China

Share

by Robert Romano at Net Right Daily

“[T]his is going to be a living document, so the treaty signatories are able to change it any time if we authorize it to go forward.”

That was Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), speaking with John Fredericks on WHKT out of Portsmouth, Va., describing the pending Trans-Pacific Partnership commercial treaty now under consideration by Congress.

The provision for a “living agreement” means, according to the Congressional Research Service, “one that is both open to new members willing to sign up to its commitments and open to addressing new issues as they evolve.”

As a result, Sessions is concerned the treaty will come to include immigration, saying, “It does appear the president can negotiate
