Texas Watchdog spurs investigation into UT admissions scandal

Share

By Andrew Collins From Watchdog and the Franklin Center

The story of the University of Texas admissions scandal began nearly two years ago in a dire place. Wallace Hall, a Gov. Rick Perry appointee to the University of Texas Board of Regents, was about to be impeached for ethics violations, charges driven by University of Texas-Austin President Bill Powers.

Twenty months later, Bill Powers has resigned in disgrace and Wallace Hall is a hero in Texas. But what was the catalyst for change? It took great courage on Hall’s part to take a stand for integrity, but the story’s narrative did not change in his favor until Watchdog Texas bureau chief Jon Cassidy got involved.

When Cassidy started covering the

to Caribbean Island Owned by Registered Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein

From Judicial Watch

Judicial Watch announced today that on June 15, 2015, it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to obtain records of all Secret Service expenses incurred to provide “security and or/other services” to former President Bill Clinton during his trips to the Caribbean island of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Homeland Security (No. 1:15-cv-00915)).

According to the flight logbook obtained and first reported by Gawker.com, Clinton took more than a dozen trips aboard the private jet of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and was at least on one occasion accompanied by

Ted Cruz is right to call for retention elections for Supreme Court

Share

By Andrew C. McCarthy at National Review and Renew America Within the space of just 48 hours, the United States Supreme Court ruled that the president is above the law; that straightforward statutory words may be twisted to mean the opposite of what they say; that discrimination — heretofore, the textbook example of a willful act — can be committed unconsciously, thereby supplanting our constitutional foundation of equal opportunity for all with the totalitarian’s dream of guaranteed outcomes for favored factions; and that five politically unaccountable lawyers, by dint of being issued robes, may impose their vision of the good society on 320 million Americans, reimagining our most basic institutions, our founding law, centuries of jurisprudence, and millennia of civilization. Like millions of

Judicial Watch: New Documents Reveal DOJ, IRS, and FBI Plan to Seek Criminal Charges of Obama Opponents

Share

From Judicial Watch

Judicial Watch today released new Department of Justice (DOJ) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) documents that include an official “DOJ Recap” report detailing an October 2010 meeting between Lois Lerner, DOJ officials and the FBI to plan for the possible criminal prosecution of targeted nonprofit organizations for alleged illegal political activity.

The newly obtained records also reveal that the Obama DOJ wanted IRS employees who were going to testify to Congress to turn over documents to the DOJ before giving them to Congress. Records also detail how the Obama IRS gave the FBI 21 computer disks, containing 1.25 million pages of confidential IRS returns from 113,000 nonprofit social 501(c)(4) welfare groups – or nearly Continue reading…

Senators demand answers on criminal-alien releases after 121 killed

By Leo Hohmann From WorldNet Daily and Renew America

President Obama is catching heat from two U.S. senators for releasing violent criminals onto the streets who then went on to murder 121 Americans between 2010 and 2014.

And there are new concerns about the possibility of violent crimes being committed by the nearly 30,000 illegal Cuban immigrants who are walking U.S. streets with criminal records.

Sens. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., and Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, sent a letter June 12 to Secretary of State John Kerry, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Attorney General Loretta Lynch. They are demanding the administration provide written responses by July 6 to their numerous questions about the release

Federal Judge Orders IRS to Account for “Lost” Emails

Share

From Judicial Watch

Judicial Watch announced that U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to report to him by June 29 the status of the recovery and release of emails of Lois Lerner and other IRS officials. The Court also ordered a court hearing, scheduling a status conference for July 1, 2015. The developments come in Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit seeking documents about the Obama IRS’s targeting and harassment of Tea Party and conservative opponents of President Obama (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. Internal Revenue Service (No. 1:13-cv-01559)).

On June 18, Judge Sullivan ordered the IRS to produce information about emails recovered by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), the internal

Majority of Greek Voters Rejected Reasonable Offer to Let Them Stay in Eurozone. What’s Next?

The hard-left prime minster promised Greek voters that a “No” vote against “austerity” would strengthen his hand and get them another, better bailout. Apparently the majority of them believed him.

By James Roberts from the Daily Signal

On Sunday Greek voters, following the lead of hard-left Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, overwhelmingly rejected an offer from the so called “Troika” of creditors, consisting of the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and the European Commission.

The Troika offered additional funding to Greece in exchange for much needed reforms including cuts in public sector wages, pensions, and other domestic spending.

Tsipras promised Greek voters that a “No” vote against “austerity” would strengthen his hand and get them another, better bailout.

New York’s ever-expanding electorate

Share

By Robert Knight From the Washington Times and Renew America

“Start spreading the news I’m voting today “

If the Democratic Party and its constituent groups have their way, the Big Apple’s non-citizen immigrants will be singing that variation on the Sinatra anthem “New York, New York” at the polls next year.

That’s the plan, as outlined at a recent press conference announcing the “Engaging Immigrant New York City” campaign, which its organizers call “an initiative to mobilize immigrant New Yorkers in preparation for the 2016 Presidential elections.”

This is exactly the kind of grass-roots activism envisioned by billionaire George Soros, who has committed $5 million to expand the electorate and loosen voting requirements by getting rid of photo ID laws
