Redesign. Reimagine. Reform.

This is what we’re hearing to describe Gov. Wolf and lawmakers’ approach to the state budget this year.

Instead of pitching the largest tax increase in state history (2015) then requesting a retroactive income tax hike (2016), Wolf recently promised, “I’m not going to call for an increase in the personal income tax or sales tax.” He further signaled his intent to “reimagine state government.”

And House Majority Leader Dave Reed expressed interest in reducing corporate welfare—a promising step!

Leading up to Gov. Wolf’s February 7 budget address, we’re highlighting multiple solutions to spare Pennsylvanians from tax increases and put the commonwealth on stable financial footing.

Trump Signs Executive Order Curbing Obamacare

Hours after taking the oath of office, President Donald Trump followed up on his campaign pledge to start chipping away at Obamacare and curb federal regulations.

Trump signed an executive order Friday evening in the Oval Office “to ease the burden of Obamacare as we transition to repeal and replace,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters.

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus also sent a memo titled “Regulatory Freeze Pending Review” to block

TOO CROWDED: Lakefront property owners on Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey are pushing rules that will keep the public off the water.

Restrictive rules being proposed for five lakes in New Jersey, including the largest body of freshwater in the state, could have a huge impact on tourism and summer fun.

Some of the proposals come at the request of lakefront residents who claim their properties are being subjected to too many unwelcome visitors.

President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to run the Environmental Protection Agency explained how he would make cooperating with the states a priority of the department during a Wednesday hearing on Capitol Hill.

Scott Pruitt, the Oklahoma attorney general, stressed “cooperative federalism” would be his guiding philosophy in running the EPA, meaning he wants the often controversial agency to work with states.
