One of the nation’s most powerful unions has been ordered to pay millions of dollars to a Texas janitorial company for its three-year smear campaign aimed at organizing the workforce.

A jury ordered Service Employees International Union Local 5 (SEIU) to pay Professional Janitorial Services (PJS) $5.3 million for making false claims about the company in an effort to rally support from the local community and workers. Local 5, which was formed by organizers from Chicago’s SEIU Local 1, waged a three-year organizing campaign

David Rutz is the video editor of the Washington Free Beacon.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said the U.S. was in a “narrative battle” with the Islamic State terrorist organization during an appearance Monday on CNN’s New Day.

Brought on to discuss the bombings in New York and New Jersey and the possible connections to international terrorism, Earnest cautioned against painting with a “broad brush” regarding terrorism and Islam.

“When it comes to ISIL, we are in a fight, a narrative fight with them, a narrative battle, and what ISIL wants to do is they want to project that they are an organization that is representing Islam

NTIA’s CYA on antitrust raises new concerns with Internet surrender

Share

By Robert Romano at NetRight Daily and Americans for Limited Government

On Aug. 16, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) published a Q&A on its proposal to cede oversight of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions — which connect easy to remember domain names with numerical IP addresses — to the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Normally, such a Q&A would not even be noteworthy to warrant much attention but towards the end was this curious addition: “Did the U.S. government conduct an analysis of the impact on competition of the IANA stewardship transition?”

Which, is a really good question. Spot on, in fact. To which, NTIA states, “In its decision to move forward with the

Hacking incidents at voter registration systems in Arizona and Illinois could demonstrate the need for stronger voter identification laws and the flaw with pushing for online voting and registration, experts said.

“We can’t afford this vulnerability in our election systems,” Mark Meckler, president of Citizens for Self-Governance and a former internet technology lawyer, told The Daily Signal in a phone interview.

“We know it can disrupt the integrity of an election,” Meckler said. “There
