Increasing School Safety in the Commonwealth

By Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Lehigh/Berks)

Thousands of school students will be heading back to school in the next few weeks. And, with the excitement for kids of seeing old friends again, shopping for school supplies, and going to football games, there is also parent anxiety due to school tragedies that are every family’s worst nightmare.

In Pennsylvania, we take school safety seriously. We previously passed laws that dedicated funding for the Safe Schools

Questions Surround New Executive Order Creating 40-Member Commission on LGBTQ Affairs

State Representative Brian Sims continues to pin his tweet of him giving the middle finger to Vice President Mike Pence; which garnered national attention for his brazen disregard for civil discourse and values that many Americans hold. Instead of repercussion for his actions, he’s receiving recognition, most recently being one of the appointees by Governor Tom Wolf to a new commission to “improve the lives of all Pennsylvanians.”

Governor Wolf has taken the unilateral action

West Nile Concern on the Rise

Receding floodwaters and heavy rains are creating a perfect storm of conditions that have contributed to the highest level of West Nile virus activity in the state’s mosquito population since the disease was first discovered here in 2000, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

The disease, which has infected more than 150 people in the past six years, is on track to pose a higher than normal risk this year and is widespread throughout the Commonwealth, having already been found in 55 counties, including Lehigh, Montgomery and Northampton.

Letter writer concerned that Illegal Immigration is #1 issue

The Left’s Trojan Horse Is Illegal Immigration

Reflecting back in time on my life’s memories and experiences, I gleaned the following: On December 7th, 1941, I was 13 years old and hearing the news of the Pearl Harbor attack by the Empire of Japan, I had the feeling we were going to be in that war for a long time. The citizenry dug in their heels and in less than 4 years we brought Germany, Italy and Japan to the Peace Table. This was due in large part to both political parties joining in the overall effort to win the war. The feeling that rationing and other government regulations impacted each and every one of us was accepted as a necessary action.

A California-based gun-rights group told theWashington Free Beacon on Wednesday the state has managed to register less than 5 percent of the guns required to be registered under California’s latest gun ban.
