State Representative Ryan Mackenzie endorses Carol Allen and Chris Donatelli for E.P. School Board

Share

To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to endorse Carol Allen and Chris Donatelli in the race for the East Penn School Board to be held on Primary Election Day – May 19, 2015.

Knowing both Carol and Chris, I can personally attest to the great knowledge and passion they would bring to the school board. They are also both very active involved in the community and have an understanding of the issues facing public education.

If elected, Carol and Chris would serve to strengthen education and protect taxpayers. We need people like them to stand up for families and our community on the East Penn School Board.

Please consider voting for Carol Allen and Chris Donatelli on Tuesday, May 19th!

Sincerely, Ryan

Can School Board’s do Anything About Common Core?

Share

The short answer is a robust YES! This question gets centered on the East Penn School Board race. In the May Primary, conservative candidates Carol Allen and Chris Donatelli made a statement in their campaign literature that they wanted to oppose Common core and return to local control. The Teacher’s Union backed slate and their political operatives immediately jumped on this and continue to this day. The union operatives claim that Allen and Donatelli are naïve in that school board’s must follow the mandates of the state and federal governments. While it is true that Pennsylvania has adopted Common Core and renamed it Pennsylvania Core Standards, there are many ways to blunt the negative impacts of this program and

A CONSERVATIVE PERSPECTIVE And ENDORSEMENTS

Pennsylvania’s Primary Election is right around the corner at May 19, 2015 from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. We are going to give you, our readers, a look at this election from a conservative view point. We will not have very much to say about Democrat candidates since conservative Democrats are all but extinct! Instead we will report on the Republican races that matter since most Republicans claim to be conservative. We say “claim to be” and that may be a problem. So let us get started.

PENNSYLVANIA SUPREME COURT—Never in its history has the Commonwealth had 3 vacancies on the Supreme Court, except this year! There are six Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for

Another Tax Hike for the East Penn School District, Is it really ‘for the children’?

Share

Increased Taxes

The vote for the proposed 2015-2016 budget with a 3.8% tax hike was 8-1. Lynn Donches was the only vote opposed to the budget. Ms. Donches brought up the fact that 65% of the budget is for faculty and staff salaries and benefits. Industry averages 40%. How often do we hear the refrain that “it’s for the children”? To reduce the tax hike 10% cuts were made in school building budgets and to the central office, there will be less music for the music departments, less equipment for physics classes at the High School, author visits will be cut back, repairs put off, and book purchases cut as salaries and benefits grow.

It has been stated that we

East Penn School District wants their back taxes and they might get a hired gun to collect it

Share

During the May 11th East Penn School Board meeting a presentation was given about how the school district can collect back taxes owed by all those tax scofflaws that live in the district. It appears a total of 472 residential and 42 Commercial property owners that just won’t pay their “Fair Share”. The total back taxes owed to East Penn School District amounts to approximately $1.5 million.

The Third party company who gave their pitch to collect all those back taxes and make things right with the school district was North East Revenue Service. They were hired recently by the Lehigh County and figured they’d give the EPSD a try. Of course their services aren’t free, they

EPSD Superintendent Schilder hypocritically snaps out at board member

Share

An angry unprofessional outburst by the Superintendent to sitting board member, Ms. Donches, shocked the audience present at Monday night’s school board meeting.

The outburst occurred after a board member called issue to appointing Debra Surdoval as treasurer to the EPSD for 2015-16 school year. This is a yearly appointment and Ms. Surdoval is currently the acting Treasurer.

You may remember that Ms. Surdoval appeared to be potentially involved in the Illegal burying of hazardous waste at the Wescosville elementary school. She is the present EPSD business manager and as such has responsibility of the finances of the district. It was discovered through a “Right to Know” request that Ms. Surdoval along with the former facilities manager

Moving to a free market agriculture policy

Share

by J. Wesley Burnett, Ph.D. & Nathan P. Mehrens, Esq. at Net Right Daily

After one of the longest Congressional debates over agricultural policy in U.S. history, the Agricultural Act (Farm Bill) of 2014 was signed into law on February 7, 2014. This bill ended the direct payment program but left two key features. First, the Farm Bill created an expanded crop insurance system that is delivered by the private sector and enables farmers to purchase protection against crop failure and market swings. Second, the bill created new countercyclical mechanisms designed to provide assistance when prices dip below production costs.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the 2014 Farm Bill will cost the federal government nearly $1 trillion
