Senator Mike Folmer Column: Remembering the Gettysburg Address

Share

November 19 marks the 155th anniversary of one of the most famous speeches in American history: the Gettysburg Address. If you’ve ever visited the Lincoln Memorial, you’ve seen it etched in the white marble. In just 272 words, President Lincoln encapsulated not only the reasons for the struggles of the Civil War but also the meaning of our nation itself.

The carnage and devastation of the three-day clash between Union and Confederate forces was staggering. Before the July 1863 battle, the population of the town of Gettysburg was around 2,400 people. Afterwards, Gettysburg was left to care for 14,000 wounded Union troops, 8,000 Confederate prisoners, and thousands of dead (plus 3,000 dead horses).

At the time, Lincoln’s remarks were overshadowed by

Larry Klayman joins Gov. Scott in legal action, combats alleged vote fraud

By Larry Klayman at Renew America

I am a proud citizen of Florida, the nation’s Sunshine State. But today a dark cloud hangs over this paradise, which is reverting to a “voter swamp.” As occurred after Election Day 2000, when then-Vice President Al Gore challenged the apparent presidential victory of then-Gov. George W. Bush, an effort is underway by the Democrats to steal the election to senator of Rick Scott and the election to governor of Ron DeSantis.

The stakes are very high! If Andrew Gillum, a devout socialist, pro-Palestinian and anti-white race baiter becomes the next governor of Florida, it will not be long before the state becomes

FedEx Ground Opens Lehigh Valley Hub

FedEx Ground is a Pennsylvania company that was looking at several states to construct this facility and chose to stay in Pennsylvania. FedEx is not simply moving jobs from one end of the state to the other. Instead it is choosing to stay here and grow here in Pennsylvania.

Today, I was afforded the opportunity to share in the celebration of FedEx Ground’s opening of its Lehigh Valley Hub.

The impact of this Hub will be felt well past this property.

I have been proud to work alongside Governor Wolf and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make this day a reality. It took a bipartisan effort to
