The Porcelain Doesn’t Know

WARNING; this letter contains opinion that uses strong language. Do not read if easily offended.

(opinion, contains strong language)

If you spend any amount of time on facebook you’ve undoubtedly come across memes, posts, and comments from the “laugh out loud” funniest to downright infuriating political stupidity and everything in between. Some simply scroll and read, laugh and move on. Others jump into every conversation that drops in their path. Still others pick and choose between posting, commenting, and simply reacting. If the mood hits me just right, and I’m feeling a little Ann Coulter in my blood I like to inject my opinions. A guaranteed way to engage me is with name calling. I don’t get offended by

Letter calls DOD on shoe policy for our military

Share Dear Editor,

Due to my present condition I really don’t want to take on another project. I seldom get involved with Federal Legislation because of the rhinos that represent us.

If you think our Men and Women in the Military should be treated as Number 1, please read my comments below.

We all know the contracts will go to those that will end up making these outside the United States.

We all hear stories and know of our active military and veterans and the second class treatment they get and the disrespect. At times I wonder what country am I living in that we could treat our highest as we do.

No one does

The Barber

Blessed are those that can give without remembering, and take without forgetting.

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing community service this week.’

The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing community service this week.

The cop was happy

Interesting Bit of Legislative History – MacCarran Walter Act of 1952

Trump was recently severely criticized for suggesting that the U.S. should limit or temporarily suspend the immigration of certain ethnic groups, nationalities, and even people of certain religions (Muslims). The criticisms condemned such a suggestion as, among other things, being “Un-American,” dumb, stupid, reckless, dangerous and racist. Congressmen and Senators swore that they would never allow such legislation, and the president called such a prohibition on immigration unconstitutional.

As Gomer Pyle would say, “Surprise, Surprise !!!” It seems that the selective immigration ban is already law and has been applied on several occasions. Known as the

Planned Parenthood profiting from selling baby organs!

It is shocking that Planned Parenthood is apparently selling the internal organs of the babies they kill, but what did we expect from people who kill babies for a living?

Dear Editor,

My Knights of Columbus council volunteers to work at the Kennedy House soup kitchen to feed the homeless. At our meeting last night we were informed that anyone who volunteers there must now watch a government video detailing how not to be unkind to the homeless, and sign a roster signifying that this has been done.

What resulted in this decision? Was there a sudden outbreak of unkindness to the homeless at Kennedy House? No, actually just showing up to work there is an act of kindness toward the homeless. It turns out that the federal government subsidizes Berks County’s food bank. The nuns of Kennedy House receive food for the homeless and poor from the food bank. And, wherever there is federal

The cost of Real Estate Taxes

According to a new report from the Federal Reserve, “Report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households in 2014,” an overwhelming majority of American renters would prefer to own their own home if they could afford to do so. Of Americans surveyed, 61% own their home, and 6 in 10 of them have a mortgage, with an average monthly payment of $1,344. Assuming this payment does not include property taxes, assessed in most states, ownership is only as good as one’s ability to, also, pay these taxes. In the State of Pennsylvania, properties are seized if the property and/or school property taxes are not paid, subjecting all to be ‘psuedo’ owners, indebted forever to the govern- ment, which is the ultimate owner.

Of the 28%

Tennessee group stops school tax increase

Dear Editor,

We managed to stop our property tax increase last week here in my Tennessee hometown. The board of commissioners was not only prepared to vote the increase, when I called the County Clerk’s office, to find out my 2016 taxes, she said she was just waiting for the final numbers on the increase. (The vote had not even been taken yet!)

I was steamed. A bunch of us got together and wrote an expose in the local paper explaining what happens when the commissioners vote to raise taxes for school “debt service.” Then we explained the sneaky trick of calling for a “substitute motion” to quietly raise the taxes without specifically saying what the money is for. On the night of the
