WND EXCLUSIVE

51-year-old Ahmed El-Monty killed after apparently targeting cops

Pennsylvania Capitol, Harrisburg

Authorities in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the state’s capital, are scratching their heads over what set off 51-year-old Ahmed Aminamin El-Mofty late Friday on an apparent shooting spree targeting police officers.

The FBI is now investigating the attacks as terrorism-related. One policewoman, a state trooper, was wounded and El-Mofty, who had recently returned from the Middle East, was killed. The officer is expected to make a full recovery.

Barletta Issues Statement After Attack on Police in Harrisburg

HAZLETON – Congressman Lou Barletta (PA-11) issued the following statement after a gunman attacked Pennsylvania law enforcement officers outside the Statehouse in Harrisburg, PA:

“The heroic actions of Pennsylvania’s law enforcement averted a sure tragedy. I am very proud the swift and effective response from those on the ground who neutralized the suspect before any lives were taken.

This demonstrates the immense bravery of Pennsylvania law enforcement. They protect our schools and neighborhoods, keeping all our families safe, while risking their own lives every day. In the face of violence and destruction, we must always back the blue.

PA Federal Judge Blocks Religious Exemption for Birth Control

Written by Keely Sharp/Eagle Rising

Ridiculous! Once again, a liberal federal judge is sticking their nose where it does not belong!

A federal judge in Pennsylvania temporarily blocked the bill that prevents employers (with religious or moral objections) from providing mandatory free birth control to employees, per the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

ACA or Obamacare requires employers to provide free birth control for women employees. However, Trump’s administration repealed the requirement because it infringed on the religious and moral rights of these companies.

Helping Seniors Stay in Their Homes

Legislative Update Friday, December 22, 2017 The latest news from the State Capitol Helping Seniors Stay in Their Homes

Recently, the House approved legislation that would make it easier for seniors to maintain their independence and receive care in their homes.

Currently, a disparity in Pennsylvania law limits access to in-home care, which can force some seniors into nursing homes when home care would have been more appropriate, preferred and less expensive. When an individual applies for Medicaid, he or she can be “presumed eligible” for nursing home services and receive those services immediately while their Medicaid application is being fully reviewed. However, if the individual wishes to receive in-home care, he or she must wait until the application is fully approved, which sometimes

I’m happy to announce that New Garden Township has been awarded $200,000 from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to further develop New Garden Park.

The funding is to be used to construct parking areas, a driveway, walkways, a pavilion and basketball court; and install state-of-the-art playground equipment, and landscaping. These new improvements will benefit all township citizens and will be a wonderful addition to the park.

The CCPP program is administered by DCNR’s

Senator Mike Folmer Column: Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus

Share

In 1897, eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon wrote to the New York Sun, “Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus?” The reply was, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”

Fast forward 120 years: the Santa Claus of 1897 is now the government of 2017. From the time we are born until the day we die, government is with us every step…from birth certificates to death certificates.

Official time is determined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Government, not parents, decides where children go to school – all based on zip codes. Today’s playgrounds are vastly different from those of Baby Boomers – sliding boards and swings are smaller and merry-go-rounds and jungle gyms aren’t the same.

Pennsylvania’s Push to Protect Unborn Lives

The Pennsylvania Legislature passed a bill that limits the window when women can have abortions from 24 weeks to 20 weeks. (Photo: iStock Photos)

COMMENTARY BY

Tony Perkins is president of the Family Research Council.

If this has been “one of the most successful Congresses” for the pro-life agenda, then the states deserve some of the credit.

While Republicans were desperately trying to stop President Barack Obama’s runaway abortion train, local leaders were hard at work, making progress on the ground until they had allies back in power. The number of pro-life bills exploded—a wave that helped push
