EPIC/East Penn School Board Candidates agree, Porn has Educational Value, especially for 13 yr olds

Share

Monday night’s EPIC sponsored East Penn School Board candidates night shed some enlightening insight into the thought process of three of the candidates vying for the position of East Penn School Board (EPSB) Director.

Only three of the seven candidates running attended this EPIC (East Penn Invested Citizens) sponsored show; they were, Ken Bacher, Paul Champagne and Richard Mathesz. Many in the public mentioned they did not attend this event due to suspicions that EPIC is just a front group for the East Penn Teacher’s Union and the event would be heavily geared towards painting their approved candidates in a favorable light.

Three candidates had notified event planners of scheduling conflicts; Chris Donatelli, Carol Allen, and Charles Ballard. They were not present, however they sent

EPSD Superintendent Schilder hypocritically snaps out at board member

Share

An angry unprofessional outburst by the Superintendent to sitting board member, Ms. Donches, shocked the audience present at Monday night’s school board meeting.

The outburst occurred after a board member called issue to appointing Debra Surdoval as treasurer to the EPSD for 2015-16 school year. This is a yearly appointment and Ms. Surdoval is currently the acting Treasurer.

You may remember that Ms. Surdoval appeared to be potentially involved in the Illegal burying of hazardous waste at the Wescosville elementary school. She is the present EPSD business manager and as such has responsibility of the finances of the district. It was discovered through a “Right to Know” request that Ms. Surdoval along with the former facilities manager

Let the BS begin; the EPSD 2016 budget primer

Share

The April 27th East Penn school board meeting started off with a bang. The fireworks began when a citizen went to the podium and gave a blistering account of several actions taken by the administration, one that appears blatantly illegal. It was also pointed out how the administration had not spent money budgeted for student safety, but still found the funds for pay raises for administrators.

Board member, Ms. Donches later followed by Ziad Munson asked the administration to explain their line item cuts after it was announced by Superintendent Schilder that he had instructed each Principal to cut their budgets by 10%. It seems the budget can be cut when it comes to education spending on students and

Campaign Night or Watching Cartoons at Home, Which was Best?

Share

By Janice Bowman,

Editor’s note, Ms. Bowman has been following Common Core for years and has researched it for years.

Tonight, I attended the League of Women Voters Campaign Night for the East Penn School District candidates and found just what I thought I would. Ken Bacher, Paul Champagne, and Rich Manthesz restated the talking points as we all know them. The questions could have been canned and answered for any school board campaign night!

I learned that it is as biased as I had called out on my question card. Since this question will never see the light of day with who we have covering our questions for the candidates, let me share it with all of you now in hopes you the student,

EAST PENN/EPIC CANDIDATES NIGHT FLOPS!

Share

Monday, May 4, 2015

The Candidates Night sponsored by the League of Women Voters and EPIC (East Penn Invested Citizens) was held at the Macungie Institute’s meeting hall. The event was called to introduce and hear from the seven candidates running for the East Penn School Board. Of those seven candidates, only three were in attendance, Ken Bacher, Paul Champagne and Richard Mathesz. Carol Allen, Charles Ballard and Chris Donatelli had previous commitments but their letters were read to the audience. Finally, School Director Wally Vinovskis was expected but did not show and did not notify the organizers that he was not coming.

As for the audience, there were 28 people and 3 news reporters present. A far smaller crowd than the same event produced

East Penn School District – A Safety Review. East Penn School District goes proactive?

Share

At the April 13th 2015 East Penn School Board (EPSB) meeting, The public was presented a story about how the district was going proactive in its desire to keep the children safe! How? By hiring a School Resource Officer (SRO) or more accurately a cop/police officer. Is Emmaus High School so dangerous that the administration believes it is essential to have a hired gun walking around their hallowed halls?

It appears that when someone working at a school district says, “It’s for the children”, their actions speak louder than their words, and one should look at what the East Penn School District (EPSD) administration does, not what EPSD administration says.

Take the essentially secret teacher union contract that was recently voted

East Penn School Board President Alan Earnshaw admits “We do know what we are voting on” and why that may be a bad thing

In what many believe to be a startling admission during the March 23rd East Penn School Board (EPSB) meeting, Board President, Mr. Alan Earnshaw admitted “We do know what we are voting on”. The comment made by Mr. Earnshaw came during a debate in which board member Ms. Lynn Donches once again pointed out that she believed there was insufficient information for her to make an informed decision on her vote to approve the bill list. Ms. Donches has been requesting since she became a board member that more information be provided to the board about the checks in the “Bill List” to be voted on for payment.

As usual Ms. Donches request was met with contempt from Mr. Earnshaw and

East Penn School District – A Safety Review. The Burying of Hazardous Waste.

Share

This article is the first in a series covering what East Penn School District (EPSD) has done over the recent past as it relates to school safety and costs.

This first topic of our series will deal with the latest EPSD hot topic on the alleged illegal burying of hazardous waste on the Wescosville Elementary School property.

Basic facts:

A) Construction debris including asbestos siding was discovered illegally dumped on the elementary school grounds.

Current Superintendent Schilder said last fall “school district personnel buried the construction debris in a hole that had been lined with clay, in case asbestos materials, such as siding or roofing, were in that debris”. Does this statement show that the EPSD believed that the debris was completely safe and therefore
