East Penn School Board President Alan Earnshaw admits “We do know what we are voting on” and why that may be a bad thing

Share

In what many believe to be a startling admission during the March 23rd East Penn School Board (EPSB) meeting, Board President, Mr. Alan Earnshaw admitted “We do know what we are voting on”. The comment made by Mr. Earnshaw came during a debate in which board member Ms. Lynn Donches once again pointed out that she believed there was insufficient information for her to make an informed decision on her vote to approve the bill list. Ms. Donches has been requesting since she became a board member that more information be provided to the board about the checks in the “Bill List” to be voted on for payment.

As usual Ms. Donches request was met with contempt from Mr. Earnshaw and

It’s for the Children (Yeah, Right)

Share

How often do you hear school teachers saying, we do it for the children? It seems so often one may start to believe them. That is until you see the union teachers’ actions that show so blatantly that whenever teachers bring out the old worn out “it’s for the children” statement you should beware and look for the actions before you believe them.

Here’s their Mission Statement

East Penn School District – A Safety Review. The Burying of Hazardous Waste.

Share

This article is the first in a series covering what East Penn School District (EPSD) has done over the recent past as it relates to school safety and costs.

This first topic of our series will deal with the latest EPSD hot topic on the alleged illegal burying of hazardous waste on the Wescosville Elementary School property.

Basic facts:

A) Construction debris including asbestos siding was discovered illegally dumped on the elementary school grounds.

Current Superintendent Schilder said last fall “school district personnel buried the construction debris in a hole that had been lined with clay, in case asbestos materials, such as siding or roofing, were in that debris”. Does this statement show that the EPSD believed that the debris was completely safe and therefore

For Local Charter School “Thinking Outside Of The Box” Isn’t Just A Slogan, It’s A Necessity

Share

On Sunday March 23rd The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts held their 4th annual fashion show. This years show was titled “Thinking Outside of the Box” and it was evident from the beginning of the show that this was not just a slogan. The event began with attendees enjoying a cocktail hour featuring hors d’oeuvres served by students, a cheese and fruit table, a dessert table, and a cash bar. During the cocktail hour the soothing sounds of a jazz band consisting of students from the high school were heard playing in the background.

Around the outside of the cocktail room were tables displaying the wares of event sponsors, and in the center of the room tables were set up

Does East Penn’s Fund Balance Affect the Bond Rating or Have the Taxpayers Been Lied to Again?

Share

East Penn School District (EPSD) administration and their bond agent PA Financial Management (PFM) constantly insist that the fund balance of the district is critical to the bond rating the district has, so let’s explore this relationship.

It is interesting to note that in the past when questioned about the excessive amount of uncommitted fund balance remaining at the end of every year board members, especially Mr. Charles Ballard insisted that there was no fund balance. That is, until the amount of cash in the fund balance grew so large it could no longer be denied. At that point the story from the administration and board changed, and the fund balance or the amount of uncommitted cash available in the budget was claimed

East Penn resident seeks to recover taxpayer funds spent on possible illegal acts

Share

A resident in East Penn School District has filed for a “Surcharge” audit with the Auditor of East Penn School District to recover taxpayer funds believed to have been spent on illegal actions.

According to Pennsylvania law, taxpayers may file a request to have expenditures reviewed by the appropriate Auditor, and if the expenditures are found to be inappropriate in their use, then those with fiduciary responsibility can be made to repay the taxpayers for the funds inappropriately expended.

This request stems from the illegal burial, ordered by Administrators of East Penn School District, of hazardous waste at Wescosville Elementary School property. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) it is “Unlawful to dispose of any waste at a facility or site that

The East Penn School Board Sneaks in another EARLY Teacher Contract!

Share

Did you know that the East Penn School Board voted 8-1, in August, to give the Teacher’s Union another “Early Bird Contract”? We would not be surprised that you did not know because the contract was slipped in as a last minute addendum to the agenda the night of the meeting! No, there was no public notice of this action. No it was not posted on the EPSD website, not even the day of the meeting! It seems that they once again purposely held off the public notice so the general public would not know and come asking uncomfortable questions. East Penn has been doing this for years. Do they know it is illegal? They should because they were sued five
