The Left’s Fuel Economy Regulations Could Cost You $3,800

By David Kreutzer / / Salim Furth / / at The Daily Signal

Scholars estimated that the new standards would add at least $3,800 to the cost of a car in 2016 and at least $7,200 in 2025. (Photo: istockphoto)

As Michigan voters head to the polls on Tuesday, they should ask candidates whether they will leave in place costly regulations that have added thousands to the price of new cars and depressed sales for the state’s iconic industry.

Federal regulations that force ever-increasing automobile fuel economy standards cost consumers thousands of dollars more than what they save on using less gas. These burdensome regulations also reduce new car purchases and, therefore, auto worker employment.

The Government Can Track Your Cell Phone, But Should They?

Law enforcement agencies have started using devices that simulate cell phone towers — they transmit fake cellular signals — in an effort to track suspects without a warrant. Sheriff David Clarke on ‘3 Big Lies of Criminal Justice Reform’

By Genevieve Wood /at The Daily Signal

Proposed reforms to the criminal justice system at the state and federal levels won’t do what advocates say it will, an outspoken county sheriff says, citing “the three big lies” of some proponents who want to reduce prison sentences.

“I can’t figure out where coddling criminals and having sympathy and empathy for the hardened criminal is a conservative issue,” David A. Clarke Jr. told me in an interview Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC. “Not the conservative school I come from.”

Weekly Update

Dear CF Friend,

Talk about bombshells.

Last week, Gov. Wolf’s education secretary, Pedro Rivera, flatly debunked two of Wolf’s favorite myths:

Myth #1: Pennsylvania underfunds education. Myth #2: The Legislature cut education funding.

In testimony captured on video, Rivera said, “On average, we spend amongst the nation’s highest per pupil.” He also confirmed, “The Legislature—the General Assembly—has never voted on a reduction to education funding.”

Hasn’t Wolf said just the opposite?

For months, he’s campaigned for higher taxes, claiming Pennsylvania underfunds schools and education funding was gutted under his predecessor.

Now, his own education chief confirms what we’ve said all along: These claims are utterly false.

As Gov. Wolf continues to push his tax-raising rhetoric, we doubt he’ll share these videos. That

Sanders To Dearborn Muslims: Israel’s Existence To Blame For Mideast ‘Hatred And Warfare’

By Robert Kraychik at The Daily Wire News

Indirectly invoking the left-wing and Islamic narrative of Israel’s existence as the cause of political dysfunction in the Middle East, Senator Bernie Sanders implied to supporters at a campaign rally on Monday in Dearborn, Michigan – home of one of the nation’s largest Arab and Muslim communities – that “hatred and warfare” in the Middle east region were the fault of Israel.

Part 68 of 72 in the series Nanny State of the Week

Local officials in a Minnesota town want to make sure their residents are keeping a tidy home.

And, like a mother with a son who tries to hide everything under his bed instead of actually cleaning his room, they’re coming up there to have a look around, so everything better be clean or you’re grounded, mister.
