Editorial: Will Obama go away?

Share

From NetRight Daily and Americans for Limited Government

Now that Christmas is in the rear-view mirror, we are in the true closing stretch of the Obama Administration, and it just won’t go away.

The outgoing President’s decision to stay in Washington, D.C. living less than two miles from his former digs on Pennsylvania Avenue will ensure that he stays in the flow of official D.C., and his promise made in a CNN interview to keep quiet for a while after he leaves office to “still” himself is likely to be forgotten within the first hundred days of the new Trump Administration.

But it is Obama’s actions leaving office that are much more startling than any sidebar comments he makes in

Trump could prove greater than Reagan

Share

By Larry Klayman at Renew America

I don’t want this column to take anything away from Ronald Reagan, the president I admire most in my lifetime. He was a man of great vision, moral and ethical consistency, resolve and courage. Reagan knew who he was and what he wanted to accomplish as president. He not only jump-started an economy brought to its knees under President Jimmy Carter, but he broke the back of the “Evil Empire,” the Soviet Union, and thus communism for decades until its re-emergence in Putin’s Russia. Reagan was also a great communicator, as we called him, someone who “kept it classy” in Washington, D.C., and did not need to raise his voice to make his point and

Trump Might Be the End of the Bush-Obama Consensus

Share

by Christopher Westley at Misus.us

Say what you want about the Obama economy, but one aspect of it must be stated up front: It was the “Happy Time” of crony capitalism. I know this statement departs from the glowing narrative being promoted by mainstream sources, but facts are facts. Maybe Obama’s was left-cronyism, whereas Bush pushed a right one, but no matter. Crony capitalism has done well since 2009.

It’s not hard to understand why. When an era’s political milieu is defined by Dodd-Frank, the Affordable Care Act, feeding the national security monster, climate-change-inspired central planning, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders, then you are going to increase costs of doing business. Large, well-connected firms will benefit,

December 23, 2016: Another date that will live in infamy

Share

By Victor Sharpe at Renew America

A foul act has taken place against the Jewish people living in their ancestral and biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria, (also known by the false name, West Bank, given to it by the Jordanian Arab occupiers from 1948 to 1967). It occurred in that cesspit of immorality known as the United Nations and deliberately perpetrated on December 23, 2016 – another date that will live in infamy.

The base act was fiendishly conceived and executed by an evil hater of the Jewish people, of the Jewish faith, and of the re-constituted Jewish State of Israel – namely one Barack Hussein Obama; incredibly the President of the United States of America for eight long and

Cities Launch Legal Defense Fund for Illegal Aliens

Share

From Judicial Watch

A few days after the Chicago City Council approved a $1.3 million legal defense fund to help illegal immigrants facing deportation, officials in Los Angeles unveiled their version with more than seven times the money. It appears to be a growing trend of using public funds to protect those who have violated federal law. The offenders are municipalities that have long offered illegal aliens sanctuary and an array of taxpayer-funded benefits.

Last week Chicago officials proudly announced their legal defense fund to help immigrants threatened with deportation. It was created to prepare for President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign promise to deport thousands of illegal immigrants. One Chicago alderman admitted he probably has illegal aliens working in his city

The Christmas Truce and the Future of War

This article is adapted from this December 2015 Mises Weekends interview.

Jeff Deist: Our guest this weekend is in the studio with me. He’s Judge John Denson, a great war historian and a lawyer who helped Lew Rockwell found the Mises Institute right here in Auburn in the early 1980s.

You know, John, there are varying accounts of what happened. Depends on who you read and you can’t really ask anyone because none of the participants are alive today or very few. How widespread do you think it really was and do we make more of the Christmas Truce than we ought to because

My New Year’s Resolutions–State Senator Judy Schwank

Share

Hello Friends:

I believe in fresh starts and always look forward to a new year. The past year certainly offered a multitude of challenges for us, and, well, who knows what 2017 will bring? I do know we as Pennsylvanians are ready to meet any upcoming challenges and opportunities.

Even if we don’t admit it, most of us resolve to change some aspect of our lives come January. The typical resolutions are to lose weight, exercise more and live healthier. I won’t comment on how successful I am at those (I’m eternally working on them!), but in addition to lifestyle resolutions I’m aspiring to some different goals this year. I plan to focus on how I can do more to make

EPA Makes an About-Face on Fracking Report: Science or Politics?

Gordon Tomb pays about $40 per month to heat his home in central Pennsylvania. And he wants to keep it that way.

“I’ve lived in Pennsylvania for more than 60 years and have never paid so little for my home heating,” Tomb, a senior fellow with the free market Commonwealth Foundation, said in an interview.

He credits his low heating bills to the boom in natural gas production brought on by hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”), which enables energy companies to tap into the
